Rehydration Station
Rehydration Station
We have installed a new rehydration station to encourage staff and visitors to use reusable water bottles instead of disposable bottles. It is a refill station and also serves as a water fountain. The counter in the upper right tracks the number of disposable bottles diverted from landfill by using the station.

The environmentally-friendly lawn at the Archetype Sustainable House
We have also installed Eco-Lawn at the Archetype Sustainable House this year. When school groups and tour groups come to visit the House at Kortright, they would notice this green lawn in front of the House. Kortright is pleased to demonstrate to visitors that Eco-Lawn is a great alternative to the traditional types of lawns. It is drought-resistant, quick to germinate but slow-growing. It requires low maintenance. No fertilizers or chemicals are needed. Since Eco-Lawn needs to be mowed only once a month at the most, the amount of greenhouse gases released is reduced and the chance of gasoline spillage is also largely minimized.
