Partners in Project Green and Mississauga Board of Trade Combine Efforts to Assist Businesses

Mar 09, 2011

Toronto, March 9, 2011 - Partners in Project Green and the Mississauga Board of Trade are pleased to announce a new partnership that will leverage the knowledge and resources of each organization to help their respective memberships realize the business benefits of sustainability.

"By allowing members access to each organization's programming and leveraging the resources, knowledge and skills of every group, we can accelerate sustainability practices of our members," says Toby Lennox, Chair, Partners in Project Green Steering Committee and Vice-President of Corporate Affairs and Communications with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority.

One of the programs available to Mississauga Board of Trade members is the Green Purchasing Alliance from Partners in Project Green.  The program provides discounts on energy efficient technologies ranging of up to 45%.  Unisource Canada's Courtney Park Drive facility utilized the purchasing group to reduce their costs on a lighting retrofit, resulting in a simple pay-back of 10.4 months and $70,000 a year in electricity savings.

"Working with Partners in Project Green has not only helped us reduced our costs," shared Andrew Gustyn, National Sustainability Manager, Unisource Canada, "but it has more importantly connected us to a community of business leaders focused on sustainability that we can leverage lessons from."

Beyond the Green Purchasing Alliance, Mississauga Board of Trade members can gain access to Partners in Project Green's consulting services and training programs at a reduced or no-cost depending on the program, and can use its network to learn about the business benefits of sustainability from their peers in the community.

"This partnership will allow companies to reduce their costs, while resulting in improved economic and environmental performance for Mississauga companies," said Sheldon Lieba, CEO, Mississauga Board of Trade.  "This will make Mississauga businesses more competitive, while improving the region's quality of life."
