Toronto and Region Conservation Acquires Important Greenspace on the Oak Ridges Moraine

Oct 02, 2009

On Sunday, October 4th Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) together with funding partners: the Region of Peel, the Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust, the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation and The Conservation Foundation of Greater Toronto, will celebrate the recent acquisition of the Campbell property, a very significant piece of property on the Oak Ridges Moraine. The event also recognizes the successful partnership which has been crucial to realizing this conservation milestone.

The Campbell property is a 92 acre (37 hectare) parcel of land located in the Bolton area of the Town of Caledon in Peel Region. The property primarily consists of conifer plantations with areas of open old field meadow and is within an area of the Oak Ridges Moraine designated as Natural Linkage.  It provides connectivity between several Environmentally Significant Areas and Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest.  Cold Creek West, which is classified as a cold water watercourse, flows through the western edge of the property.  A small tributary flows through the middle of the property and joins Cold Creek West near the southwest corner of the property.  Both of these are tributaries of the Humber River, a Canadian Heritage River.
