Event to mark the 10th Anniversary of Children's Learning at Albion Hills
Sep 19, 2006
On Friday, a special ceremony will be held at the Albion Hills Field Centre in Caledon to mark the 10th anniversary of the Husky/Earth Rangers Environmental Weeks program. The program, which involves elementary students making half-week visits to the Centre, is a collaboration of Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd., Earth Rangers, and Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA). "Under the direction of The Schad Foundation and Earth Rangers, Husky has given over $620,000 in sponsorship support to make the Environmental Weeks possible," said Brian Denney, CAO, TRCA. "This has been an incredible opportunity for young students to learn to be environmentally active." Over 5,300 elementary students from five district school boards have participated in the Environmental Weeks. The program gives them hands-on education about the environment and the opportunity to help with stewardship projects, such as tree plantings and natural habitat enhancements. At the conclusion, each student signs a pledge to make earth friendly choices at home, at school, and in the community.
