Savour a Menu of Locally Grown and Fresh Harvest Food at the McVean Farm Harvest Table

Aug 10, 2012

(TORONTO, August 10) FarmStart, a charitable organization that supports new farmers, and Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA), celebrate the third annual McVean Farm Harvest Table at the McVean Farm located in Brampton, on Sunday, August 19th. Chef Yasser Qahawish of Artisanale Café and Bistro will bring together a group of passionate and talented chefs to cook up a unique four-course family style meal for up to 200 guests. Guests will dine al fresco on handcrafted harvest tables beside McVean's historic double wheat barn, surrounded by the abundant and diverse patchwork quilt of small farms. All of the proceeds from the McVean Farm Harvest Table will go directly to supporting the Start-Up Farms and new farmers through FarmStart's programs and services.

The meal will feature the amazing diversity of fresh organic vegetables and honey from the farm, with meat and cheese being sourced from local farms and artisans.  Ingredients will be freshly picked from the McVean Farm and cooked on site over a charcoal fire. Local biodynamic wines and organic brews will be available to compliment the meal. Guests will be invited to a walking tour of the beautiful 37 acre farm, stopping to sample mouthwatering hors d'oeuvres and meet the passionate hard-working new farmers who come from all over the world. The seated dinner will be served in the late afternoon with dessert and live-music to follow into the summer evening.

McVean Farm is a historical agricultural property on TRCA lands, located in the developing north end of Brampton, Ontario. The farm is a partnership between TRCA and FarmStart.
