(TORONTO - September 21)-  Toronto and Region Conservation today announced that eco -home renovations have just begun on the Green Home Makeover located in Brampton's County Court neighborhood. The 30 year-old home of Marisa Mancuso and Paul Gay was selected earlier this summer as the recipients of the free complete green home renovation that will include a high-efficiency HVAC system, drain water heat recovery, insulation and weatherization, energy efficient appliances, Energy Star windows and doors, low flow toilets, rain barrels, permeable driveway, rain garden and water efficient landscaping for the front yard and other innovative green technologies and products.

All renovations and improvements as part of the Green Home Makeover are made possible thanks to generous donations from Lead Platinum Sponsor Reliance Home Comfort, Platinum Sponsor Sears Canada, Gold Sponsor GreenSaver, and Silver Sponsors Hanson Hardscapes, Flexible Rainbarrels, Water Matrix, Sheridan Nurseries, Threadleaf, Tasson Landscape Construction and Petrie & Sons Contracting Ltd. Keystone Interiors has been awarded the contract to manage the home's renovation.

The Green Home Makeover is also receiving support from municipal partners, the Region of Peel and the City of Brampton. Other partners include Enbridge Gas Distribution and Hydro One Brampton as well as green building, water and landscape industry associations.

The Green Home Makeover is part of the Sustainable Neighbourhood Retrofit Action Plan (SNAP), an innovative pilot program led by TRCA with Region of Peel, City of Brampton and community partners to improve the local environment and increase resiliency to climate change at the neighbourhood scale. Anyone interested in the Green Home Makeover can follow the home's transformation via videos and photos at www.sustainableneighbourhoods.ca/makeover. The renovation is expected to be complete by the end of October with an official grand opening of the home scheduled for Spring 2012.
