A Few Good Thumbs for the Greener Good

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(June 15, 2011) - On Friday, June 17, Direct Energy volunteers will pull out their green thumbs and take to the fields and waters of Tommy Thompson Park to participate in an environmental cleanup, which includes planting native aquatic plants and removing invasive plant species.

This marks the second year Direct Energy has gone to work in support of the Toronto and Region Conservation to preserve the natural species of Tommy Thompson Park. In 2010, volunteers planted 360 aquatic species along the park's shoreline, and cleared 223m of invasive non-native invasive grass from park wetlands. The team's hard work goes to benefit the thousands of visitors who enjoy the park's pathways, wildlife and natural beauty every weekend.
