Local Corporate Leaders Join Forces to Naturalize the Mimico Creek this Earth Day

Apr 05, 2011

TORONTO, Apr. 5, 2011 - On Saturday, April 16, companies from across the Pearson Eco-Business Zone will come together for the Partners in Project Green Annual Earth Day Tree Planting Event along the banks of the Mimico Creek in Toronto.

The event will feature a number of activities, including: a native tree and shrub planting, a creek clean-up, a barbeque with refreshments, and watershed education stations that will challenge attendees to learn about their watershed, while rewarding them with prizes.

"This event provides an opportunity for local corporate leaders and their staff teams to not only have fun restoring the Mimico Creek, but also learn about the importance of environmental stewardship within their watersheds," shared Chris Rickett, Senior Project Manager with Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) and its Partners in Project Green initiative.

To help encourage some friendly competition among corporate teams, there will be prizes for the corporate teams who plant the most trees and complete the most watershed education stations.  Prizes include a Bosch Energy Star Dishwasher and a Gilmour Pushmower, among other items.

If you are interested in participating, the event details are as follows:

Date: Saturday, April 16th, 2011

Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
