Toronto and Region Conservation has issued a High Water Safety Bulletin for the Greater Toronto Area
HIGH WATER SAFETY BULLETIN
Date: July 25, 2009
Time: 4:50 P.M.
Issued To: School Boards, Municipalities, Local Conservation Authorities, Local Police, Emergency Services and Media
Toronto and Region Conservation advises that the Weather Office is forecasting the potential for thunderstorms, as well as 10 to 15mm of rain showers, for the Greater Toronto Area. Rain has already begun this afternoon and will continue into this evening. Periods of rainfall are expected to last until Sunday.
The Greater Toronto Area has already received approximately 30 mm of rainfall over the past two days. The forecasted precipitation amounts may result in higher flows and water levels in all our ponds, rivers and streams, creating dangerous conditions.
Please exercise caution around all bodies of water and alert any children under your care of these dangers.
This High Water Safety Bulletin will be in effect through Monday, July 27, 2009.
