TRCA has issued a Water Safety - Watershed Conditions Statement

 

WATER SAFETY

WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT

issued to: school boards, municipalities, local conservation authorities, local police, emergency services and media

 

Toronto and Region Conservation advises that Environment Canada is forecasting a weather system that may bring 15 mm to 20 mm of rainfall amounts to the Greater Toronto Area today. The rain started overnight and will continue throughout the day.

All rivers and streams within the Toronto area should be considered dangerous as this rainfall may result in higher than normal flows and water levels. Please exercise caution around all bodies of water. Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities.

This Water Safety Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through Wednesday, October 24, 2012. For more information please contact the on-call Flood Duty Officer.

Note: A Water Safety Watershed Conditions Statement may be issued when there are high flows, unsafe banks, melting ice or other factors could be dangerous for recreational users such as anglers, canoeists, hikers, children, pets, etc. Flooding is not expected.
