Toronto and Region Conservation advises that Environment Canada is forecasting rain showers for the Greater Toronto Area for the next few days. Rainfall amounts of approximately 10 mm to 20 mm are predicted for today, 10 mm to 20 mm for tomorrow and approximately 20 mm for Thursday. Higher amounts may occur in localized areas.

The forecasted rainfall will result in higher flows and water levels in all our rivers and streams, creating dangerous conditions. There is a potential for localized flooding of streets and underpasses. Drivers should exercise caution and avoid driving through low lying areas and roadways, particularly at underpasses.

Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities.

This Flood Outlook - Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through Saturday, April 13, 2013. For more information please contact the on-call Flood Duty Officers at 416.661.6514.

Update to Flood Watch due to Env. Canada forecast of 5-10mm of rainfall

UPDATE TO FLOOD WATCH

date: Tuesday October 30, 2012

time: 8:00am

issued to: school boards, municipalities, local conservation authorities, local police, emergency services and media

Toronto and Region Conservation advises that a Flood Watch will remain in effect until the end of the day. Additional rainfall due to the remnants of Hurricane Sandy is expected today; as ground conditions are already saturated there is a potential for flooding. Please note that the threat of flooding at this time is minimal, as predicted rainfall amounts are only within the 5-10mm range. However, should the actual rainfall amounts be higher than expected, watershed conditions are such that flooding could occur.

Water levels and flow within the watercourses remain higher than normal today. Please exercise caution around all bodies of water, alert any children under your care of these dangers, and supervise their activities. After any rainfall event, rivers should be considered dangerous. Also, please avoid unnecessary risks by avoiding drive through water on roadways.

TRCA will continue to monitor watershed conditions and will update this Flood Watch message by 8pm on Tuesday October 30, 2012.

For more information please contact the on-call Flood Duty Officer.

Flood Watch in effect due to Hurricane Sandy

FLOOD WATCH

DATE: MONDAY OCTOBER 29, 2012
TIME: 12:15PM
ISSUED TO: SCHOOL BOARDS, MUNICIPALITIES, LOCAL CONSERVATION AUTHORITIES,
LOCAL POLICE, EMERGENCY SERVICES AND MEDIA

Toronto and Region Conservation advises that remnant precipitation from Hurricane Sandy is expected to reach the GTA this evening and continue over the next several days. Due to the 30+mm of rainfall that fell over the past weekend, ground conditions are already saturated, meaning that new rainfall will result in more runoff to the rivers than would occur during drier soil conditions. Environment Canada is forecasting another 30mm of rainfall before noon tomorrow, with the majority of rainfall expected between midnight and 6am. Early morning commuters should expect wet conditions along with potential flooding of underpasses and other low lying areas throughout TRCA's jurisdiction.

Additionally, water levels in creeks and rivers are already elevated, and are expected to continue to rise. Please exercise caution around all bodies of water and alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities. After any rainfall event, rivers should be considered dangerous. High winds are also associated with this severe weather event. While this may create high waves of visual interest on Lake Ontario please stay well back from
shorelines, particularly near the Scarborough Bluffs, as conditions will be extremely dangerous.

TRCA will continue to monitor conditions in all of our rivers and streams and update this message should conditions change. This Flood Watch will be in effect through Wednesday October 31, 2012. For more information please contact the on-call Flood Duty Officer.

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) advises that Environment Canada is forecasting additional rainfall of 20-30mm. This forecasted rainfall in combination with the 30-80mm of rain that has already fallen over the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) will result in flooding conditions within the low lying areas of TRCA watersheds. In particular, the Bayview Extension by the Brick Works and low lying areas adjacent to the lower section of the Don Valley Parkway are or will be flooded.

The water levels and flow in TRCA's other watersheds are higher than normal resulting in dangerous conditions. Please exercise caution around all bodies of water. Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities.

Also, drivers should exercise extreme caution and avoid driving through low lying areas and roadways, particularly at underpasses if they are flooded.

The TRCA will continue to closely monitor this weather system and will issue an update or cancellation to this Flood Warning by 12 midnight on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

Toronto and Region Conservation advises that Environment Canada is forecasting showers with a risk of thunderstorms for the Greater Toronto Area. Rainfall amounts of approximately 5 mm to 10 mm are predicted for today, 10 mm to 20 mm for tomorrow and an additional 5 mm to 10 mm for Saturday. Higher amounts may occur in localized areas as a result of thunderstorm activity.

The forecasted rainfall will result in higher flows and water levels in all our rivers and streams, creating dangerous conditions. Although the location and intensity of heavy downpours remain uncertain, areas affected may experience localized flooding. Drivers should exercise extreme caution and avoid driving through low lying areas and roadways, particularly at underpasses.

Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities.

This Flood Outlook - Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through Sunday, August 12, 2012. For more information please contact the on-call Flood Duty Officer at 416.661.6514.
